A Sweet Summertime Treat

Well, in case you missed it, yesterday (Sunday) was National Ice Cream Day....as if we even need a reason to celebrate one of the most popular food/treats on the planet! I can't really say that I know anybody who doesn't like ice cream. From the time we are babies, stick some ice cream in the mouth and even a squalling child will stop in his or her tracks and immediately concentrate on, not what was upsetting them, but on the instant pleasure and gratification that they're experiencing from the taste of ice cream. I've often wondered what the person who invented ice cream thought, when they first tasted what they'd created. It must have been a revelation! Don't forget, there weren't all that many treats a few hundred years ago, let alone ones that could even come close to the sensory explosion that ice cream provide. Yes my friends, this is indeed a food worth celebrating and just in case you missed the big day yesterday, you can "make it up" today. The hot summer weather of course makes cold ice cream even that much more appealing but you and I both know, it's great anytime of the year..........so grab a big bowl of it, or put it in a cone or whatever and just enjoy!! I'll be right there with you. Oh yes, just for the record, my favourite is Hagen Daaz Caramel Explosion. Put a little chocolate syrup on it and there's my personal definition of decadent pleasure. Gotta go now. I feel like some ice cream.
